The Grace, set within the historic Westport Estate, is being reimagined as a premier hospitality destination. The project sits at the intersection of heritage and contemporary design, where the surrounding landscape plays a critical role in defining the guest experience. Studio Glasú was commissioned to design the landscape for the hotel grounds, ensuring a seamless relationship between the natural estate setting and the refined character of the hotel.

The design needed to reconcile two competing demands: the estate’s wider masterplan vision, which offers a harmonious blend of history, nature, and the hotel’s requirement for a formal, elegant curtilage to align with the high-quality architectural and interior design. The challenge lay in maintaining ecological and cultural integrity while ensuring the hotel grounds did not feel at odds with the collaborative aesthetic developed by the design team over several years.

Studio Glasú developed a landscape design that strikes a controlled wilderness. Bands of native planting anchor the hotel grounds within the wider estate, while carefully chosen species introduce structure, colour, and formality. The concept emphasises layered planting, seasonal variation, and strong visual connections between interior spaces and the landscape. Pathways, framed views, and curated planting borders reinforce a sense of order and refinement, while still respecting ecological principles and the estate’s natural character.

The design enhances the hotel’s arrival and landscape spaces, creating a landscape that feels both contextually sensitive and distinctly sophisticated. Guests will experience a setting that is rooted in the native landscape of Westport Estate but elevated by curated planting and structured design. This approach not only supports the estate’s ecological ethos but also positions The Grace as a standout destination, where the landscape reinforces its identity as a place of leisure, culture, and hospitality excellence.
